What’s the best wall surface to mount a TV?

The best wall surface to mount a tv is masonry (Brick or concrete) due to its compressive strength. When combined with a properly sized bolt and anchor the load ratings far exceed that of a wood frame or steel framed building. Concrete anchors use the threads to move the fastener into the material (anchor) but the real magic comes from the wedge. The bolt is being wedged into the anchor causing it to spread and lock intensely into the material, and because of concretes high compressive strength removing the bolt anyway other than the way it went in is no easy feat and often times just removing the anchor without the bolt is nearly impossible, I usually just drill them out.

Most wall surfaces are more than capable of holding todays lightweight TV’s so the wall surface is a small part of the equation, the real problem to solve is who is going to be knowledgeable enough to be able to quickly and accurately identify wall materials and the proper hardware to use and how to use it.

Wood and steel stud walls covered in drywall (sheetrock) or plaster are plenty strong to handle tv’s all the way up to 96” when properly mounted with the correct hardware and TV mount.
